The Pittsburgh Steelers have requested to interview a familiar face for their vacant head coach position following Mike Tomlin's decision to step down after 19 years.

On Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Pittsburgh requested to interview Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who was the Steelers Linebackers Coach/Senior Defensive Assistant in 2022.

Flores, age 44, is a defensive mastermind and under his leadership, the Vikings were ranked the No. 1 pass defense, No. 3 in total yards allowed, and No. 7 in points given up.

Many fans criticized the Steelers for allowing Flores to leave Pittsburgh without promoting him to defensive coordinator, but a return to the Steel City as a head coach would likely be celebrated.

The Steelers have had a busy Wednesday in terms of doing their due diligence in finding their next head coach, which fans can learn more about with our interview tracker.
